Symptom Triggers

There are a number of environments that will aggravate and increase your symptoms. When the vestibular system is weakened, processing a lot of external stimulus at the same time is very challenging. For example a shopping centre with bright lights, lots of people talking and moving and loud noise is too much to process. Forcing yourself to be in environments like this can result in a panic attack, an increase in your symptoms, or even the need for a sudden bowel movement. The following are a sample of symptom triggers that should be avoided while you are recovering:

  • Computer, smart phone & TV screens
  • Patterned wallpaper
  • Reading (especially small print)
  • Shops
  • Cafes
  • Restaurants
  • Gym equipment
  • Alcohol
  • Tiredness
